The video for Justice’s latest single “ON’N'ON” was released last week and during that time it was announced a number of remixes for the EP, one of those mentioned was Rick Rubin. Well, lucky us, as Ed Banger Records has decided to release a stream of that particular remix, which is quite good. When hearing Rick Rubin was remixing the song I was sort of imagining a harder version of this song, but he went the opposite direction making it a lot more dance / pop. I actually prefer this over the original.

Oliver (Oligee & U-Tern) are back with another fantastic remix. This time they’ve taken on actor/rapper Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover’s “Heartbeat” song and really turned it something quite sexy. Basically they took the best part of “Heartbeat”, the chorus, and just worked the whole production around it. I wasn’t a fan of the original track, but this, this I can definitely vibe out to.

Yesterday Miike Snow released a new song “Black Tin Box”, the track itself also features fellow Swede Lykke Li. The song is a bit more chill and darker sounding than what one typically associates with a Miike Snow track, but nonetheless, the song is still a solid one.

I was still standing in line at coat check when Fitz and the Tantrums started their first song “Don’t Gotta Work It Out”. Even without the sight of the stage I could tell from the chaotic loudness that it was going to be an amazing show at the Commodore. Turns out my prediction was right.

The LA soul and indie pop band consisting of lead vocal duo Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs have the magical capability of translating their one-of-a-kind sound into a Motown-esque nostalgia. This retro band backed with instruments of bass guitar, flute, saxophone, keyboard, drums and other percussions contain energy so contagious they didn’t give the crowd a single second of rest.

With a group involving such diversity in image and in sound it is no wonder the people there that night were of all types and ages. The perfect clashing of old and new school vocal styles by both Fitzpatrick and Scaggs is illustrated in songs such as “Winds of Change” and “Tighter” off their debut album Pickin’ Up the Pieces released two summers ago.

Fitz and the Tantrums introduced a new track, “Love Sick Man”, but not without following it up with one of their more popular songs, “L.O.V.”, which is featured on the Friends with Benefits soundtrack. As bountifully talented as the vocalists are, the band gave each instrument a moment in spotlight. And may I just say that the flute murdered it. The. Freakin’. Flute.

Not only did Fitz and the Tantrums go hard with liveliness but they also commanded it from the audience in return, asking the for crowd participation in “Dear Mr. President” and their Eurythmics cover of “Sweet Dreams”. Still, nothing like getting the entire venue to get low to the floor and jump up together during the end song (and surely everyone’s favorite), “Money Grabber”.

I’m hoping the attendees showered immediately after the concert because it certainly got wet. Yes, in that way as well.

Neeeeeewwwwww song from Swedish band Newtimers. I first posted about this group back in November, seen here. The band sent this through saying that “it’s not as sexy as “Falling”, I whole-heartily disagree with the fellas as I think this tune oozes sexiness. “January Love” is the second single that’s off of the upcoming album Ego, which no date has been set yet for that, but you can be sure I’ll be posting about it when it drops.

Got sent this song from a band by the name of Alvin Purple out in Leeds. The self released single, “Huh Her” and “Please Please”, are a couple of great pop songs that you should probably check out. The video for “Huh Her” is also down below. Check them out over at their bandcamp page here. I can’t even front the only reason why I listened to this in the first place is the because of the cover.

The Internet, Odd Future’s Syd The Kyd and Matt Martians, have released their video for “Fastlane”. The video opens with Syd and her lover driving down a road, a close up reveals that Syd The Kyd is covered in blood, from there the story reveals itself as to how that came to be. Tyler the Creator also makes a brief cameo in the video as well at the very end. The song is off of the recently released album, Purple Naked Ladies.
