Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover’s latest video for the single “Hearbeat”, which every girl out there just can’t seem to get enough of and it comes just in time for Valentine’s Day. But personally, the best part of the song is actually the chorus and it would appear I’m not the only one to think that as Oliver (Oligee and U-Tern) built a whole remix around the chorus. Annnnnd like that January is comes to an end. With that said, our latest installment of Boner Jams is ready for your listening pleasures. The year really did start off right with some excellent tracks, in particular Todd Terje’s “Inspector Norse” right at the beginning of the year really set the tone. A recent song I can’t stop listening to is Oliver’s remix of “Heartbeat” by Childish Gambino, it’s such a departure from the original and one instance where the remix far exceeds the original, like not even in the same galaxy. Oliver (Oligee & U-Tern) are back with another fantastic remix. This time they’ve taken on actor/rapper Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover’s “Heartbeat” song and really turned it something quite sexy. Basically they took the best part of “Heartbeat”, the chorus, and just worked the whole production around it. I wasn’t a fan of the original track, but this, this I can definitely vibe out to.
First off, Happy New Year folks. As you may have noticed, if you’ve been visiting the site over the holidays, the number of posts were low for obvious reasons. It’s the holidays and I was busy sinking my life into Skyrim. But, we’re back for the new year and we’re kicking it off with our monthly mix, Boner Jams.
This mix has quite a bit of new stuff and some “older” tracks as well. Quite honestly for the mix, I just played whatever I felt like playing at that moment and the Perseus track “Russian Girlfriends” just leaped out at me and off course The Weeknd’s “D.D” track made for a great end. A remix that I hadn’t heard until recently was Cyclist’s remix of “People”, it’s rather an excellent mix and I had no idea that the dude was also from Vancouver. Actually with Cyclist, Pat Lok, U-Tern (one half of Oliver), The Weeknd and Azari and III, there’s quite a bit of Canadians being represented on the mix. And so it begins. VillA, I think, is the first to drop a best of 2011 mixes and with the end of the year just around the corner, you can pretty much count on everybody to release their interpretation of what the year sounded like to them. I can’t hate though, this is one fantastic mix and there are quite a few songs that I had overlooked during the year but work quite well in this mix, then there are also tracks that I forgot came out this year. The tracklisting for this is available after the jump, it’s a long one.
U-Tern and Oligee aka Oliver are on fire as of late as Parisian label Kitsuné is releasing their EP for the track “Dirty Talk” which features remixes from Punks Jump Up, Black Van and Wax Motif. The EP also includes the track “Walk With Me”. If there’s any thoughts of whether this is going to be good, that shit can be put to rest with the sampler that was provided. Just one word: WOW. Out officially on January 17th.
